So often we feel that if we can hang on long enough that life will get better on its own, we just need to wait for x to happen, for y to come through or for z to pass. However so often the opposite of that happens and we can start to feel the overwhelm, anxiety, exhaustion heighten even more. We snap, shout, cry, can’t sleep and often feel like a hollow husk of ourselves. Can you truly put this off any longer? Where do you see yourself or your situation in 6 months from now?
From my experience as a GP so many of the people I see have reached the end of the line with their health, they didn’t stop, rethink or regroup, so their bodies and minds stopped them instead. Often they need extended time off work and intensive medical input. I know it can feel daunting to spend money on something that isn’t visible, you might ask how will I know it’s successful? Will it be worth it?
So often in life's busyness we end up throwing money at expensive one off things to try to help us, to give us a hit of excitement or pleasure, e.g. spending money on expensive spa trips where so often you leave and realise the problems just waited for us at the door, or indeed joined us in the hot tub!
Now don’t get me wrong, I love a spa session but sadly these things that appear an act of self care are actually a bit lacking and just scratch the surface of what we need.
What we need is time, to be heard and to create change to bring about the life you love. Coaching is indeed therapeutic, it is not therapy however. Coaching will allow you space to look into your past to understand your thought patterns and triggers better, however it then looks fully into the now and into where you want to be and helps move you forward towards it.
I am a believer that therapy is hugely important to help people who need it. To give people a chance to explore their past and to look into the origins of difficult emotions and behaviours that you may have as an adult. It often doesn’t result in a action plan for forward movement. If it became apparent that you needed therapy after we started your sessions, we can discuss if it is best to postpone the coaching until after the therapy or whether they can run in parallel.
Mentoring is a much more directive practice, where someone, who is usually more experienced in the area, helps you and tells you what you need to do to achieve to your goal. I am not an expert of life and I won’t pretend I know all the answers so I don’t offer mentoring in this sense. In coaching I am invested in you and not the outcome, therefore I will not influence your choices with my opinions. There may be times when you ask for my opinion, I will only express this as an idea, and only with your permission.

Although I am a practicing doctor I will not be offering any medical advice in the coaching session. Any questions will be deferred back to your own doctor. I believe my great deal of experience in Medicine really adds to what I bring to the relationship, there is really nothing I haven't seen or heard before, therefore you can come just as you are with no fear of judgement from me.
